Head
Coach - Bryan Lederhouse
Bryan is entering his 13th season as the Shark's Head Coach. Prior to joining the Sharks,
Bryan was the Head Coach at Falcon Aquatics in his hometown of Sanborn, NY and also coached
the boys' and girls' teams at Niagara Wheatfield High School. He has also coached summer
teams at Oakhurst Swim Club, Aurora Country Club, and the Wheaton Park District.
Bryan earned his B.S. in Physical Education from Wheaton College in 1993 and has also done graduate work in Exercise Science at SUNY-Buffalo. While at Wheaton, Bryan was a four-year letter winner in swimming, serving as varsity captain during his senior year..
Pre-Senior Coach - Matt Potter
Matt is a former Shark swimmer who began swimming here at the age of 6 up through high school.
He has been an assistant coach with the Sharks for the past 6 seasons. Matt graduated from North Central College
and was on the swim team
there all four years. He was conference champion in the 200 fly his senior year. Matt is currently
works for Euclid Beverage Co. in North Aurora.
Assistant Senior & Pre-Senior Coach - Joe Neukirch
Joe is coaching the Sharks for his 3rd season.
Joe graduated from Southern Illinois University in 2004 where he swan on the SIU varsity team all 4 years.
Joe attended West Aurora HS where he was a 3 time state qualifier and team record-holder in the 200 & 500 free.
As an 11 year Shark swimmer, he was a 3 time Short Course National qualifier and a 6 time Long Course National qualifier.
At nationals he earned 3 individual and 5 relay All-American honors.
Joe has also held Shark team records in the 200, 500, 1000, & 1650 free.
Joe is the Head Boys swimming coach @ West Aurora HS where he teaches social studies.
Gold Team Coach - Brian Lowy
Brian has been coaching for the Sharks over the last 4 seasons.
A former Shark swimmer himself, Brian was a 3-time YMCA National qualifier.
Brian graduated in 2003 from Oswego HS where he was a varsity letterman in swimming for 3 seasons.
Brian is currently working on his degree in Education.
Blue & White Team Coach - Julie Polz
Julie joins the Sharks staff for her 4th season and will be taking the reigns
of the Blue group in addition to the White team this season. Julie swam competitively at
West Aurora HS and has also taught lessons for a number of years.
During the day, Julie works in the science department at IMSA.
Her children Michael (Pre-Senior), Sammie (Pre-Senior), and Alissa (Blue) are also Shark swimmers.
Assistant Coach - Kate Butler
Coach Kate will begin her 3rd season helping out with the
Blue, Gold, and White practice groups. Kate swam for the Sharks for 7 seasons before injuries
forced her into "early-retirement" during her freshman year in HS.
She is currently a senior at West Aurora HS where she is ranked #1 academically in her class.
